For five hundred years the Gate of Dawn has been inseparable part of the history of the City of Vilnius. The dust of ages has settled on the Gate's pavement - having been tred by the bare feet of Carmelites, trampled down by the army of Napoleon, Swedish and Russian soldiers, and now gently brushed from the knees of pilgrims.
